About me

Hi! My name is Timothy Stuart Yeo. I'm 59, happily married. We have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. I was born in UK, grew up in South London but moved to Germany when I was 19. That means I've been living here as a tourist for 40 years!
I started playing saxophone and flute when I was 15. Nowadays I mainly play baritone and tenor sax, but also alto and flute still. As an amateurI used to play mainstream jazz and dance music, but a couple of years ago I went to a concert of my young professional musician friend Hans Christian Dellinger. He was playing soprano sax, but so expertly, I went green with envy. After the concert I deided that was the wrong approach, so I asked him to give me lessons, which he kindly did. He is an expert at circular breathing and high notes, so it was a good move.
I constructed this blog mainly to promote his new CD, which is available from Amazon

But also to express my day to day thoughts about music generally, or whatever is on my mind.
I also have a few other favourite artists, such as the great Mika Yoshida, who in my opinion is the greatest Marimba player around today. She'll be playing at the Carnegie Hall on 7th January 2011 with Steve Gadd and Eddie Gomez. What a line-up!

Apart from Music, I enjoy reading (books that I used to find boring, like Anton Chekhov and Henry James), cycling and meeting friends. Now that Im retired, I do some volunteer work, like visiting old people and those in need. But like music, I make careful selections, so that it stays enjoyable. I don't watch much TV but prefer comedies and fun stuff. Or I enjoy cartoons with my grandkids. I haven't travelled much. Never been outside Europe, but one day I hope to visit USA and Africa.
